Amigos

I believe people come in and out of your life, for different reasons and times, when you need them most. I believe there are some people who will help you during certain situations, or get you where you need to be, and that's why (and when) they were meant to be in your life.

Obviously, we can't keep in touch with every person that has ever come into our lives. Your best friend from second grade probably isn't your best friend anymore (of course, there are exceptions). The people you hung out with in high school (who you promised to be best friends with forever and ever) are living their own lives, just like you, and maybe you "keep in touch" over Facebook. The people you hang out with now most likely won't be the same group you hang out with in 10, or even 5, years from now. People move, get married, have kids, get a new job, change schools, etc. Just because you're not BFF's with your best friend from high school doesn't mean that you would ever change the time you spent as friends. You grow up, grow apart, and move on.

I've been thinking a lot lately about the friends I used to have, the friends I have now, and the friends that got me where I am today. I am grateful for each friendship and the things I've learned from it-whether it be positive or negative. The saying "it takes one to know one" I find very true in this case. If you want a true friend, you have to know how to be a friend. It takes effort from both parties.

There are a few folks that I know I'll be friends with until I'm old and gray. And fat.

all you need is a few good friends...

...and that's exactly what I've got.

Probably more than I deserve and they're definitely better people than I am worthy of.

Yo Quiero

I am practicing for my first day of Spanish class tomorrow. Wish me luck!

These are a few things that I have wanted for a long time (years). The older I get, and the more financially independent I become, I have realized I can start saving and buy these (and more toys!!!!) sooner than later.

I want a sewing machine. I like to sew. I used to do it with my mom when I was younger, or when I got home from school, or for YW projects. I found this blog with tons of cute projects that I wouldn't mind spending my time on!

Another toy I've had my eye on is the Nikon D3000 SLR. I love to take pictures (thanks to my sister, Amanda), but sometimes my little camera just doesn't get the job done. I need something a little bigger and better.
The last thing I really want is time to play with these. Someday.....when I finish school.

Adios amigos!

It's a Monday.

As I was getting ready for bed Saturday night, I set a few alarms for the following morning. Sunday morning rolled around-I woke up around 7 and called Crystal to make sure she was awake. I went back to bed thinking my other alarm would wake me up by 8:30 if I wasn't up. 9:45 came and I was just getting out of bed! Needless to say, I was late to church.
The reason that I included this is because as I was getting ready for bed last night, I set my alarms, and when I said my prayers, I asked that I would wake up in the morning-even if my alarms didn't go off. If I couldn't be on time for 10:20a.m. church, how in the world was I going to make it to work by 7a.m. without an alarm clock? I went to bed, saying over and over again, "Please let me wake up on time. Please let me wake up on time." Next thing I know, I woke up and sat straight up! I was wide awake-an unfamiliar feeling at 5:30a.m. I was sure I had slept in. I checked the clock and it was 4:10!!! I grumbled, "Are you serious??!" As I tried to fall back asleep for another hour or so, all I could think was that I would sleep too long. Well, 5:30 came quick. I was relieved my alarm worked, and hit the snooze for another few minutes of sleep.
I finally got up, showered, and started getting ready. As I was doing my makeup, I got some eyeliner on my finger. Every other day when this happens, I just wipe it on my rag that is hanging on the towel rack. Out of habit, today's action was no different than any other day. I forgot I had hung my work pants over the rack since I have more room to myself now. (Jessica has moved to another apartment, so I've got "our" side of the bathroom to myself. That will have to be a different post.) Instead of wiping this eyeliner, which isn't just a pencil-it's a gel, on a towel, I proceeded to wipe it on my khaki work pants.
I got to work on time, put my name tag on, counted the drawer, sanitized the desk/computer/phones, and put a smile on my face; I was ready for a full day greeting guests. I have been at work for over three hours, and I just noticed my name tag was upside down.
It's a Monday! And I am grateful for a few good laughs this morning! :)

"For if they never should have bitter they could not know sweet-"

The sunny days wouldn't be so great if it weren't for the rainy ones.
